Apart from an illness, constipation can also be caused by other factors, such as lack of water, lack of dietary fiber, lack of physical activity or adverse effects of medication. Constipation can be relieved by drinking plenty of fluids, eating high-fiber foods and exercising daily. Use of stool softeners and laxatives may also be beneficial. Drinking hot water mixed with lemon juice and black salt will cure stomach problems. Green vegetables and fruits should be taken. Consumption of white rice should be avoided during constipation. Explain that white rice has more fiber than brown rice. Taking myrrh powder or Triphala with lukewarm water every night is beneficial in constipation. Coffee is considered very good for constipation.
